Maggie's Toronto Sex Workers Action Project is one of Canada's oldest sex worker justice organizations serving sex workers across Toronto/GTA for nearly 40 years. They offer public health programming, community education for sexworkers, food security initiatives, mental health and wellness programming, legal advocacy and more!
On May 22, 2021 the Nyriagongo volcano erupted, in Goma, DR Congo, Africa. 10,000 farms and homes were destroyed and the surviors are living in make shift tents in camps with very little food, no running water and very little government support. There are currently several children who have lost their parents during the disaster and need an orphanage to call home. Help build new homes, supply food and clean water, fund health care, and supply education and financial stability.
Congo is one of the worst places in the world to be a child. Many face abuse, exploitation and severe poverty. 38% of children in Congo are currently engaged in child labour in cobalt mines with little to no proper equipment and safety practices or any regard to their safety. Cobalt is a mineral used to power our smart devices and electronics. Without Congo we would have nothing here in North America. Plastic has now entered every level of the oceans' food chain, to the point where it's even ending up in the seafood we put on our plates! It's been estimated that up to 12 million metric tons of plastic end up in the oceans every year! That’s why Green Peace is campaigning to end the flow of single-use plastic that ultimately end up in our oceans. They are also working to establish ocean sanctuaries in 30 percent of the world’s oceans by 2030. That's 28 percent more than our current ocean sanctuaries!
